Become a Writer
The whole idea of the Open Travel Blog is that it’s open so that travellers, backpackers and digital nomads all over the world can contribute. Anyone can join, share something useful on a blog post and earn money for it.
I want to create a blog full of useful, good travel information that is created by travellers and digital nomads from all over the world. After all, they’re the best people to get travel information from. They have first-hand, recent travel experiences, and we should be asking them for tips, advice and stuff like that.
If you want to join and contribute to the Open Travel Blog, that’s great. You just need to agree with the ethos of the site.
The Ethos of the Open Travel Blog
If you sign up to the Open Travel Blog as a writer, you have to agree to abide by the ethos of the site and to a couple of conditions. This isn’t meant to sound unwelcoming at all. It’s just about making sure that everyone who posts on the site really tries to write content that is useful to other travellers.
Here it is…
Writing on the Open Travel Blog is all about contributing travel information that is as useful as possible. You have to write content that is…
Original and useful content.
You have to write all of your own content, and you have to:
- Cover something completely new
- Provide an update that you think everyone needs
- Do a better job than everyone else when all the existing blogs and online information is rubbish
You don’t have to do a perfect job, but you just have to try.
Original Photos.
As well as this, you have to include your own original photos from the location in question. If you’re not actually writing about a location, you still need to provide original photos connected to the thing you’re writing about.
I also won’t accept any posts that are plagiarised or written with AI, that promote anything connected to another business or organisation or are abusive or inappropriate. I also won’t take posts from people who live in the country they’re writing about.
There are a couple of other things that are covered in the formal agreement, but those are the basic rules.
Send Me a Message
To ask about opening an account and becoming a writer, please send me a message below.
Later on, I’ll have a simpler sign-up procedure. But it’s early days at the moment, so I need to speak to every person first and confirm the arrangement before they start. It’s all fine, though, please get in touch below. ..
If English is Your Second Language
Please note that English doesn’t have to be your first language. It’s the quality of the information and the effort that a person puts in that matters, not how good the writer is at English. So non-native English speakers are welcome to join.
